Liverpool Thread

Otamendi, Vertongen, Azpilcueta, David Luiz, Alderwiereld, Smalling, Eric Bailley.
Miggy and the topless skateboard nun.

Smalling i know ur a united fan but you can't think he is one of the best CB in the PL, Mourinho has been trying to get in another defender to partner with Bailley for a while so it obvious he isnt that much of a fan of Smalling or any other CB at the club. I suppose it could be worse you could of said let go to the floor Jones.

for the rest of them i wouldn't say any of them other than bailey would be the best defender in the league.
Azpilcueta - he is a right back.
David Luiz - he has barely played this season, i would say last season he probably was the best CB in the league.
Otamendi - with city possession he only has to defend for 20mins a game max, he was useless last season.
Vertongen & Alderwiereld - probably the best partnership in the PL but i don't think either can be considered one of the best defenders in the league and Alderwiereld is going to be gone in the summer.

Im not even a liverpool fan, but i have to give them credit for what they done and the players they got that are doing well.

Dick Van Dyke is alright but his defensive ability is questionable, it’s just enhanced by playing in a complete shambles.
I’d look decent playing in the center of that defence.
Every player I’ve mentioned has better defensive attributes at CB than DVD.

We can agree to disagree, time will prove my point.

Congratulations on winning the CL final tonight. Doing laps of honour for about 20 minutes. [emoji23]

Congratulations to Jurgen Klopp for his managerial record in finals [emoji23]

And your point is?
Players come and go, some coaches will destroy their creative play and some coaches will improve it.
I would trust Klopp to improve the team with the funds and to ensure that we play exciting entertaining football, rather than bore every fecker to death football.

Point is, Liverpool are a selling club.

Some clubs buy well and finish above others in the league. Some play attacking styles, some balanced... mostly managers play to their strengths. Some have no idea whatsoever how to set up a defence and balance it with attack. Some know how to do both and choose the option that he knows will see his side finish in a better position.

The best manager that the UK has ever produced (SAF) believed in winning at all costs. He was often pragmatic when required and a flat track bully when the opposition allowed. Ferguson’s last league winning side consisted of Carrick playing hoof ball to Robin Van Persie. Ferguson’s philosophy started with a mean defence and through his time he had some absolutely insane defensive players.
Attack always starts with defence in every great team.
On the flip side... Klopp [emoji23][emoji23]
