This could be a touchy subject and i'm sure it will dissapear if necessary. My intention is not to cause any friction and i don't want peoples personal feelings expressed, just looking for, well, facts really,


Why are the Jews such an unpopular race?

Didn't know they were unpopular. My favourite teacher was a jew. Think they just keep themselves to themselves. Although there are more jews than fat oriental girls id say lol

Ps I thought it was a religion and not a race? Is religion different to race then? Thought race is colour?

people like to have scapegoats. jews traditionally were seen to be prosperous and in the moneylending business, so people had a resentment towards them. and shakespeare's portrayal of shylock hasnt helped with that of course.

it all goes back to a fear of the unknown and what's different.

i'm not really that well up on jewish history, i know they were meant to be prisoners in egypt, as to where they went after that, i dont really know

I don't know any Jews so I can't make any comment other than when I was in school we went on an RE trip to a Synagogue and they were very nice.

They are a race, To be Jewish you must be descended from Abraham.

Their religion is the one that christianity stems from though Christians believe that Jesus is the prophesised messiah, as a christian you do not have to be a descendant of Abraham.

Race isn't anything to do with colour thats more ethnisity (spelling ?).

Not sure but I believe that Islam has it's early roots in the Jewish religion, they certainly share many prophets and have Abraham as an ancestor though I don't believe it is a prerequesite for converting to Islam.

Incorrect. Jews belong to the Semitic race, which also includes Arabs.

If you want to go back far enough we are all Kenyan, I was saying from the Jewish view on it.

Try telling that to a Jewish person, to be Jewish you must be a descendant of Abraham I would call that pretty racial myself.

I used to work with a Jewish man on the market, he hated being called Jewish he insisted he was a yiddish man, I always found that odd as yiddish is a language that was formed in Europe in the middle ages. He was the one that told me that you had to be a descendant of Abraham. I stopped working for him in 1986 when I got fedup with his insistance I had my son chopped as it was none of his business.

Just checked and you can become a righteous gentile and practise as a Jew but your still not Jewish.

Ahh there is a new theory as they have found a skull in Georgia that almost 1.8 million years old, and pre date the ones from Africa. So we may not have descended from what is now eastern Europe.

I'm sure we will keep finding new evidence I was just trying to highlight that we all have a common ancestor if we go back far enough.

A devout Jew would probably agree with that, but, Abraham wasn't a historical figure. He is part of a belief system.
