Has Lost lost it?

I've been an avid fan of the show Lost, but it has slowly gotten worse and now it's so confusing and it feels like the writers hadn't really thought out an ending for it and are just throwing things together, hoping we'll swallow it.

I know a lot of you think it's shit anyway, so please don't vote in the poll if you fall into that category.

I want to know if other fans of the show feel that we are being short changed with the way things are turning out.

IMO, the story line has went from a compelling mystery to complete nonsense.

I've been saying it for years but its obvious that they have been making it all up as they went along adding more and more convoluted plots and going off on tangents.
For every question they answered in an episode they would create 5 more.
There will be no satisfactory ending because the writers themselves havent a clue how to explain all the loose ends they created.

I think it got too big and the writers didnt even have a decent ending thought of. So naturally its going to be a dissapointment.

Im glad its coming to an end, alot of my mates are like junkies on it, seemed to never end.

I watched the first couple of episodes and thought it was good but never really got into it, watched a couple of episodes recently from the first season and don't get me wrong it's not that I think it's shit because it's not, it's pretty good actually, but it just didn't grab me in a I have to watch this every week kind of way which is exactly what 24 did when I started watching that. Season 8 of that is shit btw compared to the others esp before season 6. Anyway back to Lost, it seems to be that the concensus is it's gone a similar way to Heroes, great first season or so but couldn't sustain it. Heroes is another that I watched. Cracking first season there. Not so sure about the rest.

i really enjoyed the first 2 series of lost,but as others have said it got too big and the wrighters got suucked into there own hype,no matter what they do now its gunna dissappoint some part of the viewers

slightly off topic but raven refered to it,24 this season was quite poor early on,but the last 3/4 episodes of it have been the best yet-24 with a extremley pissed of jack bauer has never been more compelling

i'm a lost addict. my mate give me all of season 1 on dvd about 6 months before it was even signed in the UK. loved it then. Season 2 started to slow down the pace - 24 episodes and hardly owt happened!! Same with 3 and then they knew it would only last 6. from what i've read, they'd always planned for 7 seasons AND they knew where they were going with it.

Personally, towards the end of season 5 - you could SEE it was only ever going to be a big disapointment. they're having to rush it ti finish it all off. That and that there were so many story changes along the way - mr. ecko left so his story was given to ben - who was only a minor character. elizabeth and anna who were written out after a drunk/driving incident.

apparently, they've always had an explanation for the island itself and why it's there - it's just how they've come to explain the 'phenomenons' and the people that i'm disapointed with. the black smoke being the obvious - even that episode was complete crud. there's so many things that have been missed/skipped over or hastily explained - like the donkey wheel - yet other things missed - charles widmore when he was very young and the army guys? was that explained?

i still love it, when it's good - it's good. my favourite alltime episode being 'The Constant' - still makes me well up.....

there's no way they can finish it properly now. Gutted but still looking forward to it. i think most people who like it - will utimately feel a bit letdown - so much potential but ...

The show certainly isnt what is used to be (or was planned to be!)

As previously mentioned, i think the writters "lost" the plot a long time ago and now seem to be making it up as they go along (possibly the last 3-4 series too!).

Think it was originally planned for 1 maybe 2 series but as it became so popular the writters/producers have milked it big time and totally fooked it!

Many times ive said "fook it im not watching it no more" but still ive never missed an episode lol (sad bastard)

We're all gonna be pissed off with the ending as theres no way they can answer ALL the questions but the sooner it finishes the better for me!!

Got to agree with manofscience the "The constant" was by far the best episode.

I love it and will be sad to see it ending. I think this final season is actually very good, its showing what is happening and what would have happened to each character if the plane didnt crash. I have a few to catch up on cos I was on hols.

Except in season 1, 3 and 5 lol But yeah the last few episodes have been great especially the latest one dunno if you seen it w/ Bauer and Logan. Excellent show! I'm waiting for the whole lot to come out on blu ray when it finishes totally after this season barring the feature length movie they are making.

But saying that it's been going for how long now and it's my fault for being a johnny-come-lately but I suppose they know when the time's right to finish up as they have lost a bit of zest since the writer's strike a couple of years back and you can tell in the last 2 seasons that while they've been good if not great they just haven't been fantastic like 24 used to be, at least not in the same way. That and the fact that Kiefer Sutherland has obviously visibly aged but that doesn't really matter. But the last few episodes have been great now that the final season is drawing to a close there's only 2 episodes left on it unfortunately but it'll go out with a bang and the movie will tie up all the lose ends. Then all of the seasons will come out on blu ray hopefully in one definitive box set. If and when it does I'm having it lol!
