If someone insulted your wife or child or any member of your family would you defend them on here or would you shrug it off because it's only a forum.

Please answer honestly.

i typed out a huge reply, then the thread was gone lol

id tell them to grow up, if theyre going to insult someone, then to insult someone thats here who can defend themself

if you want to PM one of the team to look into this for you m8, feel free

No it's been sorted m8 i just wondered if i had overreacted.

Yes. I think abusing individuals thats fair play but we should all keep each others family well out of it.

No doubt the person who has put their family are not important wont post his/her reasons why but it was to be expected.

TBH no but the truth of the matter is no matter how angry/pissed off you may get it's not going to make a blind bit of difference and you are feeding the "Troll" by arguing/defending or in any way showing your emotions.
I know exactly what you are on about BTW and I probably wouldn't/couldn't have kept quiet/calm, But the best course of action is always to ignore on the net as at the end of the day you end up looking as much of a numpty/keyboard warrior as the Troll himself does.

So there you have it Ive answered honestly but the correct advice still stands mate. Remember it's the net not real life where the rules are a lot different.

If a member abused my family mate then i would probably end up banned from the forum for good because no matter what has been said there is no need to bring other members familys into it, but as you know Sargie there seems to be lots of keyboard warriors now mate and that is why i don't really post much now unfortunately but i know who the good members and the bad members are.

Last year I did and I got a ban for my efforts.:aggressive:

.....but I'd do it again, wihtout a second thought.

Agree with everybody saying they would defend their family. Personally not seen anything like this on here but plenty of other forums have these hardmen behind their PC running their mouth. Without a shadow of a doubt Id defend them till I was blue in the face

too many people who hide behind their 'internet personas' on internet forums. it's not real life. saying something to peoples faces is a different matter.

Ill admit im a big lad 6'4" 18stone but that don't make me hard however id still defend my family.

I would, without a doubt, i know it is only words on a forum from someone I probably would never have met before or never going to meet but I think it is just human nature to defend your family whatever the reasons/occasion.

i would ALWAYS defend my family ...no matter what !!
is that a trick question lol .......

The "attack" on your family would be the trick, and one that many people too easily fall for. Simply put, the thicko/troll in question will use this tactic to change a losing game to one where he can get a rise out of you and win. It's a last ditch, desperate ploy that can only work if you take the bait. It's not something a sensible person should dignify with any more of a response than to point out just how feeble it is, although as a parting shot, you could always highlight the inevitable spelling and grammar mistakes in the "attack" before moving on. You can usually find at least a "your" that should have been "you're", as well as a general absence, or sometimes seemingly random use of punctuation. Offensiveness and poor education tend to go hand in hand.

If the troll in question is who I think it is, what he has to say about anyone's family is as irrelevant as what he has to say about anything else. Move on.

behind you all the way with defending your family sargie, remember though the insults are just to goad you into reacting cause he's got nothing else to offer.
