If you had read this thread properly, which obviously you haven't (I imagine your thought process would have been: "Oh a thread about Islam, lets cause some trouble") then you would have seen my post which stated that she was 12 years of age when she got married, I'll repeat the relevant part of the post below as you cant be bother to read a thread through properly:

(Note: This is the age of puberty of many girls in that climate.)

Aishah (radi Allahu 'anha) said: If the girl reaches nine years, then she has reached puberty.

By marring HAZRAT AYESHA with HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him) she became mother of all Muslims. It is the greatest honor 4 a lady in this world.

the noble Prophet (peace be upon him) and Aisha relationship was most definatly not child abuse!

Just wanted to say that members like "countryboy" are obviously after a fight. I;ve said to him lets agree to disagree but he just keeps going.

I just feel sorry for him, if only he had more than half a brain...
 
Essentially, it doesnt matter what happened over a thousand years ago now - peoples cultures were different then, as they are now.

Marriages between (apparently) older men and girls we would consider to be way underage now used to happen in more places that the middle east then. Its just the way things were back then. For instance, look at King Tut - the kid was 11 when he became king. If he had married a girl of a similar age then this would be considered sick and revolting under our culture now.

It doesnt matter what happened then, only what is happening here and now...
