If you're on about flashing an image you can ftp the image to tmp - call it complete.img

Then telnet into the box and issue this command:
Code:

The box will be erased, then complete.img will be installed - then the box will reboot. It takes around 4 minutes - DO NOT turn the box off once you start this, the box will reboot itself when finished.

l mean using the remote to install it as manual install not through the web

Mr Dude - cheers for help.

Put the tar.gz in tmp - use the menu to do a manual install:

This is the thing i can ftp to the dream and copy the services file to tmp folder no problems. I then try to do a manual install via menu and the services file is just not showing up - like it has not copied over correctly. I know it has though because i can i see it in flashfxp. I know its something that i must be doing wrong i just cant figure out what it is.

I have downloaded your services file for fife as i am pretty close - i may just edit theses boquets if i cant crack it.

Really like the image though mate - well done.

You can extract the files from your tar.gz manually using winrar on your pc - then just ftp the sevices & bouquets and cables folder - then issue those commands I posted a few posts back. That'll do the same job m8.

Cheers Mr Dude that worked - really appreciate your help.

note image must be a .img to rename and flash via root.cramf :)

I installed this image and my 500c is completely bricked....trying to put an old image back on ..not very happy...

FOR DREAMBOX 500C ONLY

Well guys finaly it's done - my modded jade image, All updates if it needs any + Addons can be done via the software management panels - no need for any re-installs!

All you need to do is this:

Install the image - scan for services or load your own backed up ones
Go to software management (yellow button) - downloads
Select keys & updates - Install roms & keyfiles
Select scam key fix scripts - choose your area
Select services and bouquets (if you live in fife) - install them (more to be added when available)

Then that's it - you'll be up and running in minutes.

You can also change your bootlogo to your own, run a startup script & there are a few more features such as backups etc.

Let me know if you find any bugs (I don't think there's any left - lol) .

Enjoy:

NOTE: DON'T select factory reset - you'll wipe out most of my mods - lol

I tried to flash twice via dreamup and although the images was apparently installed successfully it did not boot up at all - just showed a black screen. Used telnet (which is much quicker anyway) and worked 1st time. I like the image but sorry to here about your problems. Dreamup should resolve your problems if your flashing an older image.

I'm on (and have only ever ran DW 2.1), but would like to try a new image out as theres a few niggles that bug me about it software wise.

Can I ask just to check, what exactly is it I need to back up from my existing setup to make sure I can copy back the channels I found as some took a while with multiple scans needed?

Also I dont suppose theres any screenshots of what this jade image looks like is there?

cheers

You only need to backup your - sevices, bouquets and cables folder - and if you have a custom cables.xml that as well. You can get keys, and roms from the build in menu and download them & install to your box automatically.

It can't be the image that's at fault if it's working on other boxes can it m8? It's all down to user error.
To be honest comments like this just make me NOT want to share anything else such as images or other software I have made with the general public. Infact I don't see why I should anymore with ungratefull people like you around and I am sure there are many others that make things to share for free thinking along the same lines nowadays.

Enjoy the image though when you figure out when to install it as it's the last time i'll be posting anything on this site.

As for the others that have successfully installed this - updates will be available via the update menu when I make them and upload them to my ftp site.

any chance of some sort of screenshots of what this looks like :) As I've only ever seen the dw image so curious to images, tried a few searches but found nothing. Would especially like to see EPG menus

I am sorry you think I was being ungrateful, I was just pointing out what had happened after Installing this image on to my 500c
no offence meant..

Just to say this is a very nice image.. my way to describe it, is like a revamped enigma style interface, very nicely laid out and user friendly, the updates/fixes worked a treat ;-) cheers

had no problems flashing with dreamup :)

Thanks mrdude, i installed this using smart telnet built into flashwizardpro and used your telnet commands issued in this thread
worked a treat just scanning now
thanks again

Anyone managed to get picons working on Jade?
Have tried to following the instructions from the Pli site but to no avail. Was fairly straghtforward on my previous image but it's a bit trickier with this image.

Have you managed to get them working on a compatible skin Mr Dude?

TIA
