Hi there, I am sure this has been asked already but not getting a clear message to what i need.. Basically, I have one Virgin Media main line in that is split into two (one for internet hub and the other for the TiVo box). I am wanting to split the TV line again so I can run a cable upstairs into an old Virgin Media box from a previous address. I am not expecting to have all the channels up there, i just want the free view ones in the spare room. Is this just a two way splitter job or am I better to purchase a 1-3 splitter and have a separate feed upstairs instead of splitting the existing TV line.

Appreciate any help, I am not up for paying £100 to VM if I can do it myself.

Thanks

James

Hi Napster,
Basically i have one line coming into the house, this is then split into two feeds with one for the TV and one going to the broadband hub. I was going to purchasing another long length of the coaxel they use on the install and run it up the wall into the upstairs bedroom. Is it better to split into three at the main in point (with a three way like you suggested) or split the TV signal into two? I dont really want a loss of service or reduction of internet speed really..
What do you suggest would be the best way to do it, anything i do will effect the T&C's of Virgin Media but i think £100 for a £3 part and a bit of cable is excessive if i can do it myself.
Thanks

i would split into 3 as long as your signal is strong enough..

does the tivo not have an rf out? no splitter required then!

if you buy either a 3way or 2way splitter try and get either a Tratec branded one or a techntix brand as these are what VM use

I'm sure the freeview channels are basically bbc one to channel 5, and odd one or two other channels maybe.

It's not like freeview from a previous sky sub because you get all ITV's/Ch4/Ch5, 5*, etc, etc.

Lol, yes, the last time i looked (was a while back mind) you didn't even get ITV 2-3-4, they gave you the +1's instead (starvers lol) i think they're having their revenge for all the years of FUNcards etc.
