What do you make of the idea to scrap 1p and 2p coins?

Ive seen 5p's in radiator thermostats which i presume aided the pin in pushing down..

As for the 1 and 2p's, we used to get them from the shops and skim them across the road like you do with stones on water, nowadays im a money grabber and realise pennys make pounds..

The cashless society can't be far away, and if Apple succeed with their credit card that will be another nail in the coffin for cash. If anyone is old enough to remember decimalisation in 1971, you'll remember how prices were always rounded up and never down.

The UK Treasury has reprieved 1p and 2p coins, saying they will continue to be used "for years to come".

The copper coins were theoretically under threat when Chancellor Philip Hammond consulted on the current mix of coins and banknotes in circulation.

The chancellor has now said he wants people to "have a choice" over how they spent their money.

He has also set up a group to oversee the cash system, ensuring everyone can get hold of their money in cash.

The Treasury has estimated that 2.2 million people in the UK are reliant on cash, particularly the elderly, vulnerable, and those living in rural areas
Future of 1p and 2p coins secured

It's not about how people spend their money, its about the cost it is to make them..

They cost more to make than they are worth face value.. for someone to store the coins in money boxes or chuck them in the nearest canal is sacrilege...

" i want to spend a penny " ahhhh what relief empty bladder now.

" ohh crap coinless entry and credit card maxed now soiled trousers "
