BUILD NO = GINGERBREAD.BGLE2

samsung needs roms flashing using odin 3.7

Could try flashing recovery again, or see if you can flash a pre rooted rom, if there are any for the ace2. Plus make sure your using the right root files for gingerbread

Have a look over at xda Mt8

I put the correct "root" file on a formatted sd card and booted into recovery mode. When I select flash from sd card (or words to that affect) I can't see the root file. I then noticed that even thought it says /sdcard all the files and folders showing are those from the built in memory on the phone. I scrolled down I can see / external sd but that doesn't show the root file. Its like the phone shows the internal memory as the sd card memory. Any way round this ?

Abit more info here ;-
the phone is from Spain origally on Movistar and still boots with the logo.
the CSC is XEC spain
when I put the root on the formatted SD card i get this message on the phone in blue , takes about a minute to do ;-

-- copying media files . .
Successfully copied media files.

# MANUAL MODE #

-- Updating application . .
Copying contents.
Successfully updated application.

-- Appling Multi-CSC . .
Installing Multi-CSC
Can't access to '/system/csc/XEC/system/' .
Successfully applied multi-CSC.

then I get these choices ;-
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

I select "apply update from sdcard" on the next screen i see ;-
Choose a package to install:
/sdcard

I looked in the external_sd/ and even though I've put the "root" file to the root of the sd card it doesnt show. Some of those files will be daft apps my son's installed.
I'm totally baffled as to why its showing the system/internal memory files and not the root of the sd card.

Does anyone know why ?

bump, I'm still no wiser , can anyone help please ?.

When you downloaded the root file did you unblock it on your pc? Have you tried downloading the root file from your phone not copying it over?

Are you running custom recovery is the rom your trying to flash a zip file or tar file?

Having a quick look on xda you need to do the following to see your sdcard..

4.Part 1: Stock Recovery:
- Wipe data/factory reset - Yes [Optional but recommended]
- Apply Update from external storage
- Then select the CWM6 recovery that you downloaded before.
5.Part 2: CWM6 Recovery
- CWM6 Recovery will show up!
- Select install zip from sdcard, choose zip from sdcard, navigate and choose custom rom.
- Wait about 5 minutes to be installed and then select reboot system now - no
