Dead Hard drive

Hello All, My hard drive just died today after a windows uptade, had Dell on the phone with me and they confirmed my hard drive went down. I had just a folder full of pics from my new born baby there that I REALLY want to save! How can I do that? Dell will send a new HD for me on Tuesday then I'll have 5 days to try back-up whatever i want before send the faulty HD back to them...could any one help me with this?!

Boot into safe mode and check if you have sytem restore working and restore the computer to date before the problem started i.e four days ago. As you have got the photos backed up

Also, get yourselves a copy of Knoppix, it is a bootable linux disk that looks/feels like windows and allows you to copy stuff off unbootable drives for storage elsewhere.

Or, if you are 100% beef like me, get a copy of Ultimate Boot CD...........

UBCD for Windows

........... which is a windows installation running purely from cd/dvd, again its great for copying stuff off a duff windows disk.
