Boot mgr missing

hi guys i brought a new hard drive for my laptop a 200gb i started to install windows 7 and 95% through copying files it came up with a error and restarted it after the hp logo appeared it came up boot mgr is missing any ideas how i fix this i have not long got the harddrive

If you still have the old hard drive then you can try cloning it, it will save you a bunch of work.

no i dont have the old harddrive can anyone help me out have tryed a google and tryed a few tips but still get the error and cant install windows....

Does it always stop at 95% when trying to install?

no not all the time have just been trying it and its now stopping around 76% when i restart tho it say bootmgr is missing press ctrl alt+delete

Is the hard drive brand new?

got it off ebay was working fine and it also will let me install xp on it just wont let me install vista or win 7.

Try partitioning the drive into 2, then try installing first on partition 1, if it's the same, try partition 2.

damaged disk maybe?? I can't install win7 on my pc without loading vista first.
Other wise i get the same prob, Ive put it down to my disk, seeing its a new dvdrom.

thanks for the advice guys desided to just buy another one i even tryed hirens boot cd that came back with loads of bad sectors....
