I have just installed KodiDirect and DreamPlex and now from boot up on the OPEN ATV 5.1 logo screen if I press menu to try and go to the setting screen, it just crashes. I can still select my channels with EPG and arrows.
Any help or advice welcome.

I just want to fix the mainMenu to get into the setting to put the skin to a default.
I have pasted the log file with a number of errors which ends in a crash with the mainMenu:

Youll need to reinstall the image.

How did you install kodidirect and Plex ? Telnet with opkg update command or via the images addons manager ?

Should be done via telnet to satisfy any dependencies needed during the install.
 
So my error was installing using the addons via the remote!

Since my last post I've updated the open atv to v5.3 and started again.

I'm just beginning to seeing what this unit can do and have so far have been pleasantly surprised, I find its operation similar to my raspberrypi.

Is there a guide to install plex and kodi correctly, similar to telnet I'll most likely be using putty to connect.

FTP the IPKs to the tmp folder.

Telnet in as you would with your Raspberry PI but use port 21 and run this command

opkg update && opkg install -force-overwrite /tmp/*.ipk
 
I'm stuck with it saying unknown command, I also tried to list which comes back with use port or pasv first.
Any ideas ?

Strange it is the correct command try under port 22 and port 21
 
Thanks for all you advice and help Ferret.

Putty is set to use port 21 so,
After the use port or pasv first message I typed in
port 21
it closed the connection along with closing the app
same with port 22

I have managed to install the DreamPlex.ipg by selecting it through using the setup menu, maybe it's some kind of permissions I've not set?

Another issue since installing the new image and the slyk skin, I can't view the cccam in the menu think it was ci for common interface, I have found a key in the menu but this looks like it is just a setup for xml.
 
This is weird

Start Putty with your box connected to a router via ethernet

On putty config select the telnet option enter ip click open

Login and enter commend.
 
Telnet sets the port to 23 as a default, this connects and works fine!
 
To summarise and close this post, the menu fault was on open atv 5.1 after installing using addons through the menu setup.

As there's no known fix to the menu fault image open atv 5.3 was installed, addons then copied to the tmp folder to install.

All working now thanks goes to Ferret which helped my understand of the system better.
