hi m8s lets get serious for a minute ive been told that u can overclock these with cutting 2 tracks and covereing them with conductive paint is this true as i have a 1800xp cpu with heavy duty fan.

yes u can link some of the L1 bridges i think. and maybe have to cut some of the links too very difficult to do as i tried it before on a duron 800.

but it would shorten the life of ur CPU.

If CPU hasn't already been unlocked (joining of the bridges) then yes, you can join these bridges.

If never attempted before you can use a pencil to join the bridges as a temp measure and see if any difference ... if so then you can fill in the trenches that are cut into these then connect all the pairs of L1 points with conductive paint.

Be warned that it can shorten life of cpu or even worse.

Make sure you have plenty of cooling

hi m8s thanx for the replys i was considering overclocking but on reflection i wont bother as the last one was a p111 733 overclocked using jumpers on motherboard lasted 18months then either fried motherboard or cpu ,its as usuall some bright spark tells it much easier with athlons cheers .

go to toms hardware and they will show you the right way to do this as the pencil trick does not work on the new ones...does`nt look that hard(never tried)but they make it look easy..hopes this helps

i just went out and bought an xp1600 and managed to get it up to 1850ghz, thats way above an xp2100 and it runs at 35c on my rig. My p4 2.2 runs at 2.9 so ive gotten a good deal from those chips :)

I have done it with a duron 800,and took it to 1 gig,
without any problems, using pencil, and later conductive paint.
don`t try it without a magnifying glass, you may think your eyesight is ok, but even a bit of dust from the pencil,or paint,
will bridge and cause a short, and blow the chip.
to do an xp is totaly different, you have to cut gridges.
try these links for more info.
