Been thinking.
The Xbox1 controller is basically a HID USB device so that means it'll have some sort of MCU doing the business for it.
Now all I need is the brains to work out what to do and the eyes to be able to see the tiny bits and bobs.

"USB-based AVRs have been used in the Microsoft Xbox hand controllers. The link between the controllers and Xbox is USB."
