will this dvd player play avi files?

hey everyone, just wanted to ask your opinion o this one, well i watch a lot of movies and have decided to buy a cheapp dvd player that plays divx/xvid/avi files so i dont have to transcode using nero to watch on tv. i have just bought another house so things are a bit tight and just want something temporary.

i quite like the look and price of this one:

it says it plays mpeg4 but all of the movie torrents i download are .avi files, do you think this player will still play them. im just not sure if it will or not because the same player is on ebay and it says it will play divx/xvid/avi files, here:

basically i just need to know if this will play .avi files?

I have been shopping around for a DVD player which does the above, but have found that all the DVD player I tried (and took back) took over 15 seconds to 'read' my usb pens/HDD's before playing the film. I wanted to replace my Televon DVD player i bought from Aldi £29 two years ago- read the usb pens/HDD in about 4 secs! Feed back on this DVD p[layer would be really good.
