It depends what you plan to store. If it is just to install the os plus a few apps on you will be fine if you are storing your files on another drive. You might want to make some available as swap space though to make things a bit speedier.

If its for what I think then its overkill but yes it would work perfectly

you may well be right be went for quiet low energy unit as better read write to cheap ssd
