I'm in the process of purchasing a psp, but none of the shops in my area will let me take the psp outta the box to see which firmware is loaded on it. Even if I buy it & its the wrong one, they won't take it back.
Just wanted to know, how effective is the below guide the "Highlander" posted as a sticky in the psp forum, in determining which firmware is loaded on a psp?
Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks 4 ur time.

that is as long as tey let you look at the box first.
You can determine the firmware version by checking for a letter code above the BARCODE on the bottom of the box.
A-1.50
B-1.51
C-1.52
D-2.00 Unconfirmed
E-2.00 Unconfirmed (likely 1.52)
F-2.00
G-2.01
H-2.50
and above higher so no good for downgrader.
D and E are also possibly 1.52's as both models (1.52 an
