Which chip is the best for my ps2? I have a version 5.I don't really mind soldering if it means that i can play all back ups without having to do too many swaps! If poss can i prog my own chip like the psx?

try here m8 for one of the best (no swap) chip
http://www.playstationmods.info/

Is there a cheaper option? Is there a way of programming my own using an Elvis? I don't mind doing a bit of disc swapping if it makes things cheaper than £65!!
any good?

Seems very complicated in order to run dvd backups, requires about 3 disc swaps!

What is the neo 2.2 like?

i have the neo 2.2 and u will have to buy the ar2 v2 for about £30.00 as well to boot the ps2 backups i think the hex is in the downloads section m8.

Neo2.2 is on my site, but the phoinex is much better for the money, your going to have to but a £30 AR2v2 like huggi said and swaping all the time will get on your nerves
http://www.playstationmods.info is the cheapest place if your going to fit it yourself.

I already have the ar2 , so would you recomend the neo 2.2 monkey? Does it play all the backups inc ea games?
What chip or mod do u use Monkey?

The neo2.2 will play all games, EA games included.
With a swap trick or with EApatcher.
I used neo2 & neo2.2 but now i have the pheonix

is it a single swap with the neo 2.2? If i were to prog my own chip, which chip would i need?

How many wires is there to solder when using the Phoenix? And is there anywhere cheaper to get it ?
Sorry for all the questions!!

Pheonix has 23 wires.
No swap for anythink

Neo2.2 has 8 wires
requires a 1 swap with ps2 cd games
2 swaps for dvdr backups
non for psx games

Has anyone tried the "Origachip" it states it will run dvdr's without the need for an original dvd game with larger TOC, I have just ordered one at about £30.

Have'nt Tryed one of them but its probley a clone of neo2.5 which does that.
