Striker Wayne Rooney has flown out with the England squad for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland amid allegations about his private life.

As the Football Association confirmed, Rooney has made the trip with the rest of the squad for Tuesday's Group C tie.

However, England coach Fabio Capello will have to decide if Rooney is in the right frame of mind to play.

The News of the World and the Sunday Mirror broke the story and Rooney also dominates Monday's tabloid newspapers.

He had played a starring role in England's 4-0 win over Bulgaria at Wembley on Friday after his disappointing displays during the dismal World Cup campaign this summer.

His England team-mate James Milner said the 24-year-old Rooney was a top professional who would be concentrating on matters on the pitch.

The Manchester City star stated: "He's a top player, he showed it on Friday and trained fully [on Sunday].

"I'm sure he'll continue to do that. Things are always said in the newspapers. It is part and parcel of football and down to us to make sure the only thing that matters is what happens on the pitch.

"We're here to win a football match and we trained as a squad."

He said it was important the team were not affected by personal matters adding: "You have highs, you have lows, and it's down to us to make sure the only thing that matters is on the field, come together and make sure we get the result."

Manchester United's Rooney ended a five-month goal drought in his club's 3-0 Premier League win over West Ham last week.

And, although he did not find the net at Wembley he revelled in the free role given to him by Capello, instigating the attacks which led to Jermain Defoe's hat-trick and also having a hand in Adam Johnson's goal.

Rooney's inclusion in the starting line-up for Tuesday's game is in doubt but Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld expects him to play.

"I expect Rooney to be on the pitch," said Hitzfeld. "Fabio Capello is not able to leave a player of his class out.

"I am no psychologist but Wayne Rooney is looking sharp and I am sure he will perform well."

Switzerland defender Scott Sutter admires the footballing qualities of Rooney but is hoping the controversy surrounding the England player can work in his side's favour.

"Wayne Rooney is an amazing player," said Young Boys defender Sutter. "When he's on his game, it is hard for anyone to stop him.

"But with these things going on in his private life, it depends how mentally strong he is and whether he can put it to the back of his mind and play like the way we know he can.

"I read all the papers online so I have been following what is going on.

"Obviously, it is a distraction and maybe he will not be as totally focused on the game.

"We have to hope Wayne Rooney doesn't play as well as he can. But whether something like that will affect him, I don't know, we will see."

Tottenham striker Peter Crouch missed the win over Bulgaria and will also be absent in Switzerland because of a back problem, while Bobby Zamora also dropped out of the squad with an injury.

West Ham's Carlton Cole or Darren Bent of Sunderland - both relatively inexperienced at international level - are in the squad.

Italian Capello will definitely have to do without Tottenham's Michael Dawson in the heart of his defence, with West Ham's Matthew Upson, Phil Jagielka of Everton or Bolton's Gary Cahill all possibilities to fill the breach.

First-choice central defenders John Terry and Rio Ferdinand are out of the reckoning with hamstring and knee problems, respectively.

gotta love british media, they couldnt have waited till after the god damn qualifier to post this crap?
They are the first to talk trash bout the England team and always finding ways to try and disrupt England squad players and team...bunch of useless clowns.

One more thing on this story is that the escort says she had strong morals not to do the business in the bed rooney shares with his wife...but then when did those morals go wen she decided to make some quick cash and sell this story?
