volume control help....

lost all sound...

when i try and restore my volume control on my task bar, i get the follwing message...

Windows cannot display the volume control on the task bar because the volume control program has not been installed. To install, use Add/Remove programs in control panel.

How long have u been wothout sound m8??????????? Have u tried system restore if its been a few days if you're on xp

Sounds like you might have a corrupt sound card/device driver.
Try a system restore as suggested by zooropa, failing that reinstall the drivers for your sound card.

i'm on win 98, but can't fin system restore....

can't reinstall as i no longer have discs...help

i do have win 98 file but that contains loads of drivers...which one would i need

can you remember what your soundcard is?mine done this a while ago what i did was i remebered what my soundcard was Realtek AC97 I went to their site and downloaded it again worked fine after that

Does your soundcard still appear in Device Manager?
