vista freezing

i have just bought a media centre pc with vista ultimate and every time i start it up it works for 5 secs then freezes for 5 secs and if i logout then log back in it works tried checkdisk it found no errors any ideas

HARD DRIVE: 1 TERABYTE (1000 GIGS OF STORAGE) SEAGATE ULTRA QUITE SATA2 16MB CACHE 10,000 RPM (500GB X2)

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS K SERIES ENTHUSIAST BOARD SOCKET AM2

PROCESSOR: 3.4GHZ ATHLON 64 X2 (DUAL CORE)

RAM: 4GB (OVER 4000MB) SUPER HIGH LATENCY OZ FACTORY OVERCLOCKED

GRAPHICS: HIGH DEFINITION READY 512MB GEFORCE GS SERIES PCI EXPRESS (FACTORY OVERCLOCKED)

the amount of people ive heard having problems with vista is nobody`s business. Especially adding devices, the old drivers are a nightmare.
I wouldnt touch Vista with a barge pole.

Have you checked to make sure you have the latest drivers for your devices such as the graphics card. Also make sure you have installed all the latest Vista updates from MS.
