i got a hi-jack virus called iexplore.exe and i want to be able to get rid of it,it was in messenger plus add-on and it real pissing me off,any way on how to remove it?

Removal Steps

First end task the program by pressing ctrl+alt+delete. Then chooses websearch and other program that you find specified here (if running)) and end task it.

Directories
1) Search for and remove the followin directories (they should be in your program files or just use the windows search)
websearch
WebSavingsfromEbates
couponsandoffers

Delete the following files

websearch1.exe
MWSOEMON.EXE
MWSSRCAS.DLL
Toolbar.dll
xzxsv.wzg

Again search for them if you cant find it manually and delete it

Delete the following registry keys

{001dae60-95c0-11d3-924e-009027950886}
{6A85D97D-665D-4825-8341-9501AD9F56A3}
{07B18EA9-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA}
{00A6FAF1-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D}
{001dae60-95c0-11d3-924e-009027950886}
{00A6FAF1-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D}
{6A85D97D-665D-4825-8341-9501AD9F56A3}

Open registry (start--->run--->enter regedit--->click ok

Search for the above keys (or if you know how to find them manually go ahead) by pressing ctrl+f and pasting these values.

Delete the following registry values

LSvr
LTDMgr
websearch
WebSearch Email Plugin
{6A85D97D-665D-4825-8341-9501AD9F56A3}
{07B18EA9-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA}
{6A85D97D-665D-4825-8341-9501AD9F56A3}
{07B18EA9-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA}

Now follow the same steps as you followed for deleting registry keys previously.

You should be safe now.

Things to think about

Is your privacy worth nothing. Worse than losing your privacy is llosing your money or your online identity.

Should you be really bothered?

I think so. If you dont have the time or energy to do all this by yourself, why dont you get yourself a virus scanner and a spyware remover?

Is it really worth your time and money (you could lose all your money in the bank if your password is compromised) to be worrying about these things?

It is always better to have a software that can protect your computer and you. Spywares are more dangerous than viruses, coz of the simple reason that they steal your information. Your banking account password is much more worthy to them than your computer. And thats what most of them are after.

First things first......

MSN Messenger plus is a fantastic add on to msn messenger but you need to be careful. It has caught 4 of my family members out and installed the sponsor crap it comes with which they agreed to thinking it was the normal terms and conditions.

You need to uninstall the program and you should then get a pop up asking you if you want to remove the sponsorware click yes. For some reason this didn't remove it the first time round on all the computers I have removed this from this must be a bug.

So you need to install it again.

If you have still got the setup or your using an old version of msn plus get the latest and install it over your current version agree to the sponsorware
(You think I am made now)

Restart your computer
Add and remove programs to uninstall msn plus again and remove the sponserware too.

Once this has been done restart your computer again,
Install msn plus and make sure you refuse to install the sponsorware crap and the setup will go through as normal. Note that puts one of the worst tool bars to internet explorer I have ever seen my search.

Some precautions for next time all which are free.
