Need some advice from our car guys here
My Daughter bought a 55 reg Vauxhall Astra Auto about 6 months ago, the other day it would not select a gear. the AA came and took it to our local Vauxhall dealer and on inspection they have said that the coolant from the rad has bled into the gearbox via the oil cooler pipes and fecked the box ! and they want thousands to put it right, on having a read about a few people have had this problem and it sems a common fault
My question is can the gearbox be flushed through with new fluid or will it need a new gearbox as Vauxhall say ?
Second question is if it does need a new/recon box does anyone know a decent mechanic who could do the work ? we are in the Kent/SE London area
Thanks for any help and advice guys
