Yeah, I know, the picture changes round but the camera is too stupid lol

Anyway, Mrs M took about 20 videos the wrong way up so I'm looking for a way to get them the right way round without loss of resolution or sound.

Suggestions much appreciated :)

Not tried myself

Thanks - both seem to work okay but I had quite a few so I looked for a batch option and found it in FF Multiconverter which seems to be available for most Debian distributions.

I couldn't leave it alone though so here's how it happens. This applies to IOS-based devices (not sure about Android as I don't have one).

When you rotate the device the screen auto-rotates with the device so you always see it the right way up. The camera doesn't and in the metadata for the video the Rotation parameter is set to whatever angle the player needs to apply to show it the right way up.

Unfortunately, while it's common in Quicktime, many other players ignore hence it works fine on the iPad but not on the PC once you copy it across unless you're using Quicktime.

So, now we know :)
