transit 2.5 turbo 2000 code reader?

Has anyone know what sort of engine management code reader i need for a 2.5 turbo year 2000 as the ones i seen don't seem to diesel engines 2004 and after.My light comes on intermittent and i just restart it but would like to know what is causing it.

Diesel vans like this one don't have to comply with EOBD until 2007.
the testers i have seen say 2004 onroud:

if it as a diagnostic plug on it surly their must be some software or hardware that can read this fault code

acr4 from sykes pickavant is dated now but esentially cheap second hand with ford pod and lead
there is also fo-com but i have never used this on a transit of your year
one other is autoenginuity and again it supports a few ford engines this might do it but not 100% sure
all cheap all on fleabay to peruse

i have seen acer2 not acer 4 on fleebay do you thing this would do the job.

the ford module is the one to concentrate on for acr4
if you can get a handset and ford module and lead for acr4 separately then thats better than the acr2
these are a lot older and only give 2 lines of data acr4 has 4 lines of data

i might have a handset and lead and pod here give me a pm
failing that fo-com or ford superscanner supports the J protocol that your van uses

the ford lead and pod and handset can be bought separately and you can add modules as you go

does your van have the 16 pin dlc ?
if so acr4 should cover it albeit a bit poor for live data but should read codes
