Hi anybody any ideas ? Vista Home Premium btw

I have been asked to look at a "friends sons" laptop with this error when you try and logon you get

"User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."

I have tried the obvious, safe mode\ system restore.

Also there is only his account and the guest account on the machine i thought ah! his profile is goosed ill just logon as him in safe mode and create another user and then copy most of the old profile over but the option to create a new user is not available even though his account is designated as Admin.

All the info i have found on MS knowledge base and other searches just say use other account, but not what to do if only this account on machine.

TIA

In safe mode run an elevated command prompt and type:
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.
Reboot normally and see if the hidden admin account is on the account log on screen.

To disable, type:
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.
Also from an elevated command prompt.

Thanks little_pob, got admin account now and setup new account just going to drag across some of his old profile.

Must admit i missed vista completely personally went from xp to 7 on my travels around MS sites this looks like a common fault seems it can happen with 7 but a lot less often...

thanks again
