Sky One is to broadcast David Blaine's first UK stunt, it was announced today.

Blaine, who has only ever performed stunts in the US before, will be encased in a clear-plexi glass box by the River Thames for a six-week period. Blaine will be seen suspended from a crane in the glass box, just seven feet deep, seven feet long and three feet wide, where he aims to remain for 44 days.
During this time he will have no food, no communication and no distractions of any kind. He will have to exist with a tube feeding him water and a waste tube to urinate.
Sky One will air his entrance into the box live on Friday 5th September at 8pm, as well as his exit at 9pm on Sunday 19th October. Live streaming will be available 24 hours a day via Sky Active.
Channel 4 will also show the entrance programme, Monday 8th September at 10pm, and the exit show, Monday 20th October at 9pm.
"David is one of the world's greatest performers," said Sky One controller Sara Ramsden today. "This is a fantastic coup for Sky One, London and the UK. The eyes of the world will be trained on London as he attempts this extraordinary feat."
In the past Blaine has performed feats such as standing atop of a 100ft high pole in New York for 35 hours and being encased in six tons of ice for three days.
"We are all capable of infinitely more than we believe," said Blaine. "We are stronger and more resourceful than we know, and we can endure much more than we think we can. In truth, the only restrictions on our capacity to astonish ourselves and each other are imposed by our own minds."

well that should be worth watching:grayyawn:
where do they get these stunning ideas:rolleyes:
if he had to sit on a bog with his kegs round his
ankles in the glass cage for that long then at least it would be amusing

Why do people like Sky One controller Sara Ramsden think that anybody would be in the least bit interested in this? Does she think that the British are as stupid as the American general public and that we will find this is entertaining?
Let's hope that he falls out of the box giving us something that is worth watching!
