BSkyB, which owns Sky News, has offically announced that it has reached its target of 7m digital subscribers, three months ahead of schedule.
It now has 7,015,000 subscribers.
The news comes five years to the day since BSkyB launched its digital service.

"When we set the seven million target over three years ago it was way ahead of market expectations," said BSkyB CEO Tony Ball, calling the news a "fantastic achievement".

Last month, Tony Ball announced he was to step down as CEO when a successor has been found.

Now, with the addition of the terrestrial digital service Freeview, 10m people have digital TV in their homes.
