Can anybody tell me where I can get the most basic instructions for programmimg a silver card? I assume that the standard ones like Kevlar etc don't work as they do with the gold cards?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

i don't think there is such a thing as easy instructions m8 but follow this guide then scratch you head and stick another goldie in the elvis haha
A silver card II
Elvis Programmer with Mpset
Matrix Studio 6.2 from Piccard site plus the Matrix Studio dll files
Picc2rd.20.zip from piccard site
Original Card
MKFv4.3
Links www.picc2rd.com (Matrix and picc2rd.hex) www.whatplace.co.uk/mkf4.html (MKFv4.1) www.adteknik.se (MP6/7beta) www.irwebonline.com (Silvercard II)
Steps:

A)Extracting MK01 PPUA
Use MKFv4.3 for this. There are plenty of tutorials on this
Copy down all the keys you can find in the keys section under the Management and Operational keys tabs for all the ONdigital headings and SECA,and the serial no of the card.

To save writing it all down I've been using the Print Screen key to save each screen to clipboard and then pasting it into a Word document before printing out a couple of screens per page. There's probably an easier way but I don't know it.

B) Extract all the files in the Matrix dll zip file to the MatrixStudio directory in order to allow matrix Studio to recognise the Elvis

C)Creating the eeprom hex file.
First got to system properties in control panel and select com1 under ports.(That's if you're using Com1 for the Elvis). Highlight it and click remove, then click refresh. Don't restart if prompted.
Run mpset from the software with the Elvis or the above link. Select Phoenix number 1. The light should come on on the phoenix.

Open MatrixStudio
Click config and select Phoenix interface in the Right Hand window
Select Com1 in both boxes and check the settings are the same as in the properties tab under System Properties in control panel (probably N,8,1 9600)
Select 16F876 Flash. leave all else unchecked
Open the Ext_EEprom_empty.hex file from the Picc2rd20.zip file
Under the Providers tab delete Providers 0c 03 04 10 11.
You now have a number of providers labelled 00 00. The top one is SECA. Select the next one down.
Click ident and type 00 1b in place of 00 00 in the right hand window.
Click Name and enter ONdigital 1 at the beginning of the line.
Click PPUA and enter your extracted PPUA.
ClickPBM and enter ********************
Click date and enter 30-09-2001.
*Click MK 00/08 and enter the key from MKFv4.3 which is top left under the Management key section for ONdigital 1 ident 00 1b, in the column labelled primary keys in MKF.
In the right hand column of Matrix labelled secondary key enter the equivalent key from MKFv4.1 alongside the primary key.
In the rows below enter the remaining primary and secondary keys found in MKF under management keys for Ondigital 1 Ident 00 1b. Leave row 02/0A as zeros as there isn't an MK02 on the ondig card.
Under the lines 04/0c 05/0d and 06/0e enter the keys found under the Operational tab for MKF in the same order from above down.
Enter the card serial no in the box. If you get it off the back of the card leave off the 0 41 and enter the next 9 digits.

It's probably best according to posts on the forum to enter as much of the original card details as possible to reduce ECMs.

Therefore enter the same details in th 00 00 SECA box as found under the SECA heading on MKF.
*Enter the SECA primary and secondary Management keys in line 00/08. If there are others insert them in the line below.
Leave the PPUA and PBM and 0c/0d/0e keys as zeros for this and the other ONdigital idents.

!!!!For all these enter 01/01/1990 as the date!!!! (Not 00/00/90)
Select the ident below your newly created 00 1b and change this to 00 1e. Label this ONdigital 2 and fill the coresponding data.
Select the next one and change it to 00 1f. Label ONdigital 3.
And the next on 00 20. Label ONdigital 4.

Change any remaining 00 00 idents to ff ff except the one at the top (SECA)
Tick the boxes for each of the ONdigital and the SECA ident.

Change to debug mode line and uncheck any boxes except Eeprom externa

Save file with recognisable name (preferably with 8 character name if using DosProg) in the same directory as DosProg (Or Matrix Studio if using that to program).

C) Programming the card with Matrix Studio

Click debug mode
Put card in Elvis
Click Open/Close port icon top L
Click Reset port icon next to it.
Click Eeprom externa and leave rest unchecked.
Click Write Providers icon (Red dot)
Click Open/close port again.
(It should read Close port at bottom of screen. Error boxes come up if your card isn't in).
Close Matrix studio and remove card.

Programming card with Dosprog2.4

1) Go to the 'Program 16F876' pane and load the 'Picc2rd.hex' file from the pic2rd20.zip file using the 'Load' button that's inside the programming pane, NOT the load button on the main window. The program will ask you if you want to 'Update providers data and card config?'. Click on 'No'. If you clicked on 'Yes', then the provider data currently stored in the Picc2rd HEX would have been loaded. As this data is for European satellite, then we don't need it.

2) You must now copy the provider data into the main Picc2rd program HEX. Click on the 'Copy providers from providers folder' icon. (You should still have your amended eeprom file open in the providers window). This is the icon with the right facing arrow with a key underneath.

3) Now click on the 'Save' button that is inside the 'Program 16F876' pane, and save your new PIC HEX file in the Dosprog directory.

You should now have an eeprom.hex file and a PIC.hex file that have been modified in the Dosprog drectory with whatever names you've chosen.

Unplug and reconnect Elvis to take it out of Phoenix mode. Light should be out
Put the card in contacts down.
Run Dosprog2.4. If Elvis isn't recognised do the system properties trick above again.
Select option J for a silvercard II.
Type the dos path and filename for the PIC file followed by the path and filename of the eeprom file.
Say yes to erase.
Sit back and wait until it tells you it's done. or drop dead

Remove card hahahaha wanna have a go ??????????

Cheers Damage,

I'll give it a bash. Now I know where you get your name from. You've certainly done my limited amount of braincells some damage with that instruction guide.

Damage,

The only thing I can get at www.picc2rd.com is some Spanish paragraph with no links to elsewhere. Is there any other site to get the Matrix Studio software from and the Picc2rd20.zip?

Cheers

Thanks Damage,

So far so good. Just can't get hold of the Picc2rd.20.zip which is the last piece of the jigsaw. The Piccard site seems to be down.
