TEENAGERS dubbed the “Scallyban” are blowing up deadly home-made bombs on Britain’s streets.
Yobs as young as 15 make the Taliban-style explosives using instructions from the internet.
They use them to blast open house doors and blow apart the cars of rival gang members.
We were shown phone footage of one device being detonated feet away from houses.
The one-minute clip shows two hooded thugs pulling a metalplated bomb from a plastic bag, lighting the fuse and
then putting it at the foot of a lamppost.
As they run away laughing, it explodes in a billowing cloud of smoke.
One 15-year-old gang member, from Kirkby, Merseyside, told us: “I’ve seen one blow the front door off a house and blow it halfway up the stairs. The windows broke and there was little fi res on the carpet.
“That’s a proper bomb that was made to hurt someone. There were nails and shrapnel inside it.
“There’s also a different type we use just meant to scare people. They just make a big bang and smoke.
“We’ve used one of them in a robbery on a shop and also to scare older ones on the estate.”
In their sinister “uniform” of dark North Face coats and black tracksuit bottoms, the gang said they started using bombs instead of guns as they were harder to detect.
A 16-year-old lad said: “And a bomb won’t come back to hurt you.”
One terrified neighbour who asked not to be named, told us: “These thugs don’t care. They’ve got guns and knives, now they’ve started setting off bombs in the street.
“They’re terrorising the neighbourhood like the Taliban.”
Our investigator found more weapons in nearby Norris Green.
Within five minutes of asking where we could get a gun he was taken to woods and shown a .38 Olympic starter pistol converted to fi re live rounds.
A baby-facedteen told us: “£150 and it’s yours.
“Give us a day and we’ll get you a shottie (double barrelled shotgun) or a Mac-10 sprayer (machine gun).”
One of the lads from Norris Green’s Nogger Dogz gang was targeted by rival Crocky Crew member Sean
Mercer in the shooting that killed 11-year-old schoolboy Rhys Jones in August 2007.
And his gang pals say tit-for-tat attacks are still happening.
One told us: “There was a shooting outside the Lobster pub in Croxteth the other week.
“Another innocent kid will get hurt again one day, I’m telling you now.”
Author Graham Johnson spent three years with the Norris Green gangs for his new novel Soljas.
He told us: “It’s like an arms race. The police respond by militarising their resources which now include unmanned surveillance drones, elite anti-gang units, Tasers and heavily armed squads.
“The overall result is a general increase in fear and hostility.”
