This may help some with converting SVCD to DVD.
Most of this is cribbed but some tweaks are mine, can't remember where I cribbed it from but it works a peach.

How to Convert SVCD/VCD/AVI to DvDr fast!
SVCD
Lots of people seem to want to convert SVCDs to DvDs and waste a lot of time recoding their SVCD data, Joining files, etc.
There is a much easier way without any picture degradation You need a programme called DVDPATCHER_v105b available at h**p://www.wincesoft.de/index.html PC Tools section and TMPG DVD Author from h**p://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda16.html (free for 30 days)
The problem is SVCD has a horizontal resolution of 480 and DvD has a horizontal resolution of either 352 or 704
Copy your SVCD files to your Hard Drive, (I use Isobuster “Extract but filter M2F2 mpeg frames”) I will call mine AVSEQ01a.MPG and AVSEQ01b.MPG. (If copied straight from an SVCD Disk right click on each file select properties and untick read-only).
Load up dvdpatcher and load AVESEQ01a, the info window will tell you that this is a 480x480 (NTSC) or 480x576 (PAL) resolution, select 352 in the horizontal size box, select entire file in the patch box, press PATCH NOW and START. After a minute the file will now show its resolution as 352x480 (although nothing has really changed) Do the same to file AVESEQ01b.
Load up TMPG DVD Author, create new project, add file, AVSEQ01a, ignore GOP errors, yes, ok. You now have CD1 loaded. Now, add file AVSEQ01b same again. You have CD1 and CD2 loaded, if you want to add chapters to either CD then click edit, chapter cut edit, right click in chapter window, add chapters in specified intervals (I use 10 mins).
At this point I check for “overlap” ie repeat frames at the end of the 1st MPEG and the start of the 2nd MPEG if ignored you may have a “repeat/loop” of several frames in the middle of the movie (if the movie was ripped to SVCD with tools like DVD2SVCD it can produce this), if you need to edit any “extra” frames crop from the end of the 1st MPEG as cropping from the start of the 2nd MPEG seems to affect lipsync for the second half of the movie. This is easy to edit in TMPG DVD Author.
You are now ready to move to the Create Menu window, insert title, play with layout, etc. (If you have chosen to put more than one movie on the DVD, TMPG DVD Author recommends the use of a menu as you may not be able to play the second movie).
Output, hit the BEGIN button.....your VOB files are now being prepared and
your audio tracks will be recoded from 44kbs to 48kbs, this will take approx 10-15 mins per cd.
Final step, load dvdpatcher, load up EACH MOVIE VOB FILE and select 480 as the horizontal size, patch entire file VTS01_1.VOB, VTS01_2.vob, etc. DO NOT PATCH THE VTS01_0.VOB!
At this point I check the VOB files using Power DvD for bad frames around the start of the second Mpeg which can affect lipsync for the “second half” of the movie.
Once this is done, burn to dvd as normal (use TMPG DVD Author’s burning tool it works very well).
The file sizes will not have changed........you can fit 5 cds onto 1 dvdr
(2 movies, for movie2 select ADD NEW TRACK put movie2 on track 2)
The sound will still be in sync, with no need to join movie files.
The audio sample rate has changed from 44kbs (SVCD) to 48kbs (DVD)
The Video resolution is unchanged at 480x480......this is not standard DVD video resolution, but if your DVD player can play DVDr, its likely to be able to play this.
