Exactly what I have, price isn't much different, I think I paid £275 about 6 months or so ago.

Re: QNAP TS-412 Turbo NAS 4-bay wih iSCSI and RAID 0/1/5/6/5+ Spare/JBOD, Marvell 1.2

I thought this was a good deal as I have the ts219 which is a 2 bay and is going for about the same price.

This is cracking bit of kit. The only issues I have had with it were due to my own doing :)

I wish I could justify getting this at the moment

Re: QNAP TS-412 Turbo NAS 4-bay wih iSCSI and RAID 0/1/5/6/5+ Spare/JBOD, Marvell 1.2

You just need to make sure the compatibility list is checked with regards to the drives as they don't work well with "green" drives. I had nothing but issues and went through a few firmware iterations which as it stands i'm running some debug firmware for QNAP.

Re: QNAP TS-412 Turbo NAS 4-bay wih iSCSI and RAID 0/1/5/6/5+ Spare/JBOD, Marvell 1.2

Well I got my self some

SAMSUNG SPIN POINT F4EG ECOGREEN SATAII 2TB 32MB CACHE HARD DRIVE <8.9MS 5400RPM - OEM

and this needed to be firmware patched on the drive itself as it something to do with the number of platters on the drive causing data loss. I got them patched and have not had a problem with them, touch wood. These were only needed for drive that were manufactured before Jan 2011 I think it was, any drive after that date had already been patched. So in principle yes make sure the drives are on the compatibility list but you could as I did keep an eye on Qnap forums, where people will comment on particular drives and their compatibility even before they are certified by Qnap as being compatible. But be aware if you do this
