Well from what i have seen of the game play and graphics on the ps3 it has nothing on the xbox360

My freind got one from america he paid around £800 note for it yes £800 i had ago on a couple of game and i think it rubbish ........................................

a good friend of mine bought one from a shop called gadgetfx in leeds city center for 750 with resistance and rr7 and i am really unimpressed sony had over a year more on the damn thing and there games look worse than yerar old 360 games

even when developers get to grips with sonys overcomplicated hardware
the 360 developers will be working wonders with the 360 hw

I got a confirmation email from play.com today that I will have one for release date. Not certain I want it anymore, everyone seems to be saying they're crap. Maybe I shouldn't bother, especially as I accidentally bought a Wii last week...

Get a proper TV

Prehaps its not the PS3 but you TV?

yes, the 360 is definitely more powerful (the ps3 cpu structure is more specialised to function as a home media system then as a machine which can challenge the 360 in overall gaming performance).

This being the case, it has excellent straming capabilities but, unfortunately, this optimisation for streaming has come at the expense of raw gaming power! (which the 360 has in spades!).

However, at least the ps3 offers an extremely good (joint) hardware and software based ps1 and ps2 emulation capability ........... which is more then can be said for the 360!

hmm maybe so,but how many people actually use backwards compatibility,i recently spent ages getting some old xbox games running on mi 360,and other than booting them up to check ive not played em at all,and these were my favorite games from the xbox too

hi

xbox 360 rules ,i think the high price of the ps3 will be sonys downfall

gotta agree wit ViolentJ in regards to pure gaming power the 360 beats the hell out of the PS3. sony have gone with all rounder home media centre console. ps3 has abit of everytihng.

Dont know if sonys trick will pay of, allowing users to change the OS on the PS3. sony is hoping to encourarge the open source community to contribute to the success of the PS3, allowing users to download and use homebrew application on the third party linux platforms.

only time will tell, but from my point of view as a gaming console i cant see it topping the 360.

n im not a 360fanatic lol!

the thing with sony letting you install a n other os is they deny you access to anything that could make it a good feature, while i guess some one may come up with something,i wouldnt expect anything better than most of the hb that was on the ps2,time will tell i guess

unless it get cracked wide open ala xbox 1,then itll end up being a bigger ,more xpensive xbox-but i guess ps3mc could be good

the other point to bear in mind is that game development is pc dependent and we all know how much microsoft (aka xbox) are pushing direct x.

They, therefore, would appear to have the advantage in that they will know their own software (and how best to use it in their own hardware) that much better in my opinion.

yup, youve got it spot on mate. i think thats what theyre trying to emulate! ive still got my xbox with xecuter 2.6. use it for everything still. its my complete media centre! streaming, movies, music and occassional gaming.

that would explain the high price i think sony is trying to make money on the console itself whereby the 360 relies on making money on the games.

it will be interesting next few months to see what the PS3 can do and is capable of.

ive had a 360 and its hours of fun, cant wait to get my hands on PS3 to see what its like.

i hear the PS3 will be alot easier to crack than the 360, we'll have to wait n see.

i know someone who paid £420 for an imported one and he recons that the hard drive is just the same as a pc one and you could upgrade it yourself?
If SONy are charging more for a 60 GB and you can upgrade it yourself then it is a rip off.

yes, ps3 will take any hard drive with out a problem, i think it has to be a 2.5in one though.

Yeah, but you do get a blu-ray DVD with the PS3 and as an add on you would get a HD DVD for the 360!!

Which would work better we yet do not know it may well the situation as with the Betamax and VHS!!

Considering I was on the verge of spending nearly £900 on a Blu-Ray DVD Player I guess the price of the PS3 will come cheap for me!!

I'm a playstation man, always have been. Don't know much about the technical stuff, but its all about how good GT4 is going to be!!!! It better be better than great
