Does anyone else have any issues with the discovery suite of channels on DVB-C?

Scans pick the channels up and I can pull the EPG info from the channel (I think) but I don't get any sound or video. This is the same for Animal Planet, Discovery itself, home and health, turbo, all of them.

I'm using DVBViewer with the latest VPlug and I'm in an ex-TW area. Other channels are fine and multiple scans are finding the same frequency information so I think I've got the channels right.

The error I'm getting in VPlug is an empty ECM one, something about the PID being empty?

In dvbviewer, go to view near the bottom of the menu there is audio/vidio disabled, if it has a tick next to it click on it to remove the tick and it should work.

It's not that, if I change to other channels I get them fine. I also get the program information displayed in the status bar when running in windowed mode. Although thinking about it, that might be calculated from the EPG, the current time and the programs start and end point.

The frames per second and audio information should be retrieved from the stream though, right? I'll have to check and see what they're showing as.

Take a look at view/filters dvbsource, it may give you some info on the above, I think all of the channels you mention are on one transponder, I'll have a look when I get back to my machine with dvbviewer.

I've had another look at this as I'm still getting problems with these channels.

You're quite right, they're all on the same Transponder (Network ID). I've rescanned just now and most of the discover channels have been picked up, although strangely Animal Planet wasn't. So, I'm looking at three channels that behave in different ways: Discovery Turbo, Discovery Realtime +1 and Bravo (as my baseline to check that everything is working).

Bravo is fine, works without fail regardless of the CSA module I choose in vPlug.

Discovery Turbo doesn't work at all. In the vPlug monitor I get nothing in the CA-Info window and I get the following lines in the Debug output window:

[15/11/2008 17:53:08] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - Added PMT filter, pid=$0800
[15/11/2008 17:53:08] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - Cached ECM-PID:-1($FFFFFFFF)
[15/11/2008 17:53:08] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - freq:107, tp_id=$0001, SID=$03F1, PMT=$0800
[15/11/2008 17:53:08] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - StartECM_Filt-> $FFFFFFFF
[15/11/2008 17:53:11] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - Timeout on ECM-PID: $FFFFFFFF
[15/11/2008 17:53:11] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - -> empty pid -> starting AutoECM...
[15/11/2008 17:53:11] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - StartECM_Filt-> $FFFFFFFF
[15/11/2008 17:53:15] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - PMT Pid =$0800, SID =$03F1
[15/11/2008 17:53:15] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Turbo - Timeout This PID is empty. Rescan...

In view -> filters -> DVBSource I get nothing. Everything is sat at 0. My latency is 350, the TV/Raio box is set to 500 and the File box is set to 0. I'm on Graph PTS and Auto Update. I'm assuming it's not any of those as they're the same as on working channels.

With discovery Realtime + 1 I get the relevant lines appearing in the CA-Info window with the top one going blue and the the icon changing from a key to an unlocked padlock. In the debug output I get:

[15/11/2008 18:00:36] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Realtime +1 (NA - Added PMT filter, pid=$0107
[15/11/2008 18:00:39] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Realtime +1 (NA - Cached ECM-PID:6712($1A38)
[15/11/2008 18:00:39] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Realtime +1 (NA - freq:123, tp_id=$001F, SID=$03F7, PMT=$0107
[15/11/2008 18:00:39] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Realtime +1 (NA - StartECM_Filt-> $1A38
[15/11/2008 18:00:45] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Realtime +1 (NA - Timeout on ECM-PID: $1A38
[15/11/2008 18:00:45] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Realtime +1 (NA - -> empty pid -> starting AutoECM...
[15/11/2008 18:00:45] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Realtime +1 (NA - StartECM_Filt-> $1A38

[15/11/2008 18:00:46] dvbviewer3.9.4.0:Discovery Realtime +1 (NA - AutoECm->Found ECM-PID: $1A38

I get no audio or video and in view -> filters -> dvbsource I now have a clock (PCR) value and my allocated buffers has moved to 2. My discontinuities is rising by about 2 every five seconds.

Does that mean anything to anyone? Is it something that can be fixed?

Sorry for the long post but I though as much information as possible would be useful!

Hi Conrad,

Did you ever get this resolved, have a a smiliar problem but it only seems to be with +1 channels, I can get normal Discovery Channel fine but not Discovery Channel +1 and the same for the other discovery channels!
