The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you
having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly
bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent
study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working mother who used the car to take
the kids to school paid £86 in one month.
Why dont the Government just simply raise the tax on petrol so the more people drive the more they pay instead of having an expensive tracking device.

hang on, ive not read much into all the posts in this thread but would the pay as ya go road tax not benefit people like me that only does like max 200-300 miles per month ??? why should i pay same as a road hog who burns rubber 24/7 ???
it would still cost you a hell of a lot more than 190 pound a year if you was on pay as you go on 200-300 miles a month
