Just ran the test again on an old (6 yr) desktop I seldom use. Not surprised at the poor HDD perf, as it was pulled from an old Sky+ box lol!

What did surprise me is that my 1 year old i7 HP laptop doesn't fair much better in many respects. Which makes me wonder if performance can be impaired with poor software, bloatware etc? Or is this purely a hardware test? If I get the chance, I'll run the test again on this PC using the OEM Vista & see how it compares.....
