As far as I know they are within ASA rules/guidelines provided one of the companies UK outlets (not sure if the internet is included or not) has sold it for a period of at least 28 days in the last 12 months at the advertised full price.

IIRC the ASA set the rules as it wasn't unheard of for stores to up the price of goods, in some instances over 100%, for a day or so before a sale started. Then when they dropped the price to the original selling price it was suddenly 'reduced' (by 50% in cases were the price was doubled).
