As part of the Government’s reforms to the arrangements for Competition, Consumer Protection and Consumer Credit Regulation, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) closed on 31 March 2014, and its work and responsibilities passed to a number of different bodies.
One of the main "Different Bodies" is CAB or Citizens Advice Bureau, who already struggle to cope with problems, complaints and requests for representation and in many areas have long waiting lists to get proper one to one appointments, also without trying to rubbish this service the staff are not experts in many of the fields they deal with, although they do try their best to help.
So yet again we have the government disposing of their responsibility to protect the people from the unscrupulous in the guise of money saving methods.
