Microsoft has released the Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2 today. The Office 2007 SP 2 brings 'Save to' support for OpenDocument and PDF formats. As promised by Microsoft, the second service pack arrives via Windows Update service. Note that MS Office 2007 SP2 will show up only if MS Office 2007 suite is installed in the computer.
MS Office 2007's second Service Pack has a number of feature improvement and performance tweaks. Significant performance improvement is expected in the MS Outlook 2007 while the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will get OpenDocument support. So, this Office 2007 SP2 eliminates requirement of installing any plugin or additional software for OpenDocument support.
Microsoft has finally brought the ODF format support that is a rival to Microsoft's Office Open XML format, which would be supported in Office 2010. Also, native support for saving file to Portable Document Format (PDF) and XML Paper Specification (XPS for document render and print) format has been added.
Microsoft promises that Outlook will take less time to start up and shut down and switching or viewing folders would be faster now. And after installing SP2, Outlook will become 36 percent quicker for users with large mailboxes. For better graphics presentation and printing, the performance as well as print fidelity of the graphics in various applications including PowerPoint has been optimized.

Microsoft has also introduced the service pack uninstall tool that removes only the service pack. Previously, users had to uninstall entire suite.
