Norton renewal subs?

I’m getting “Renew your Norton subscription now” messages for anti virus anti spam and Norton firewall at a minimum £21 each, I had no idea there would be running charges for this product I suppose I should have read the small print. Do all similar protection products hit you with subscription charges, is it worth swapping? Is there any way to continue receiving updates from Norton without continually forking out. They do tend to lay it on bigtime for the cost of renewal.

Cheaper to re-buy the package from Ebay.

All these style programs are more or less the same, free updates for a year then you need to renew or buy the next product
