Tony Blair is to appear on an MTV discussion programme to be shown around the world, MTV Networks Europe confirmed today. The topic of the MTV Forum will be "Is War The Answer", and the show will air on MTV channels worldwide in March. In Britain, the show will be transmitted on March 7.
The forum will take the form of an hour-long direct question and answer session between Blair and forty young people from countries including the UK, the US, France, Italy, Spain, Holland, Poland, Sweden, Iraq, and the Palestinian Territories. Viacom, MTVNE's parent company, says that the audience will reflect a "balanced cross-section" of MTV's 16-24 target demographic. The forum will be hosted by Trevor Nelson of MTV Base.
Brent Hansen, President and CEO at MTV Networks Europe, said: "MTV Europe's philosophy is to offer young people from all over Europe the opportunity for open dialogue on a number of issues, regardless of race, religion or political standpoint. This forum will not be a vehicle for any political message; instead, we wish to offer an open and unscripted dialogue between Prime Minister Tony Blair and young people in Europe. MTV's European audience are particularly attuned to the issue of war and An MTV Forum With Tony Blair: Is War The Answer? will offer a lively debate with a truly pan-European perspective."
