Billy has requested that I offer a bit of assistance for newbies so here goes.

If any of the new lads need any protection software then you may obtain it from my site at the bottom free of charge of course.

Security:
Norton internet security and anti virus in one package.
Norton anti virus 2001 and 2002 for xp.
Black ice defender. (Firewall)
Norton personal firewall.
PGP personal security. Personal protection and ability to create personal disks which only you can access.
Zone alarm Pro (Firewall)
Trojan Remover and scanner.
Password Agent. (Keeps all of private passwords safe)
So now theres no excuse for not being safe.
MY SITE

Cheers Speccy, im sure some of our newbies will enjoy downloading the software from your site m8, in fact they will probably have a sniff around there to see what else you have on offer!!, but now newbies cannot use the excuse "i didnt know where to get the software", its on speccy's sight, download it, use it, be safe, not sorry!!!, hind-sight is a wonderful thing "if i had only....." regards Billy

As you say billyhl, Hindsight is a wonderful thing. So prevention is better than cure…but

also available is Norton Ghost, which is an excellent back-up utility. If you make regular back-ups of your files etc or even entire drives. Then at least you will be able to restore everything, if you are unlucky enough to get into serious trouble with a virus, or other software/hardware problem.
Courtesy of speccy’s site

speccy delivers again...
keep up the great work mr mod!!!!
owenzy.

Speccy, you're a diamond.

But a bit more advice needed: Do I need to install ALL of those packages you recommend, or would just a few of them work better on my pc.

I mainly want decent virus protection. Is there anything else that you would strongly recommend.

Cheers m8.

Basic package required is:
Norton Anti Virus. A firewall, take your pick, if you choose a norton product then you are able to use live update. You could perhaps also use Trojan remover. Pop up stopper comes in very handy also on my site. If you have any personal stuff that you need guarding then get Personal Privacy. This lets you create an extra drive out of thin air, add what you want to it (even install programs to it like MKfind) and when finished with then close it. The disk then reverts back to a single file which no one can touch. Any programs installed to that disk can not be accessed unless the disk is opened. The longer the password that you give it then the better.

Youre welcome.

Diamond thanks for mentioning back up. I have just created the floppies needed for Drive image pro5 (2 floppies), Partiton Magic 7 (2 floppies) and Ghost 2002 (1 floppy). The whole bundle for these programs can be quite large but all you need basicaly to use them from dos are the floppies. I have removed 30 day limit from them and and saved them in IMZ format. Just load them into Winimage (also found on same page) and then write directly to blank floppies. I do believe that these versions are all XP compatible.

Fair play speccy, you know your stuff. Great site keep up the good work. I dont think it will be long before it says mod under your name.

It's nice to see that you are having a good read and search around the forum m8, unfortunatly the thread you have replied to is well over 2 1/2 years old, so you will not have any luck accessing the site thats posted
