Police in China are investigating claims of a 900-person orgy at a luxury hotel.
Chinese media claimed that 400 Japanese sex tourists were serviced by 500 prostitutes in a three-day sex marathon.
The People's Daily newspaper, China's official publication, said health officials in the Guangdong province had now closed the hotel.
"We are conducting an investigation into the case to find out whether media reports tally with reality," a spokeswoman for the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau said.
"We have suspended the business of Zhuhai International Convention Centre Hotel."
The People's Daily reported that the orgy was held between September 16 and 18 and the men taking part paid between £87-£130 a night.
Media reports of the orgy have provoked outrage through China.
The public have accused the tourists of choosing the date of the orgy to humiliate China and celebrate Japan's notorious wartime behaviour.
September 18 marks the anniversary of Japan's occupation of north-eastern China of 1931 - an event remembered by many Chinese who still harbour deep resentment of Tokyo's military past.
