At Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, the Launch Readiness Review for NASA's IRIS observatory aboard an Orbital Sciences Pegasus XL rocket was held this afternoon. At its conclusion all Pegasus and IRIS systems were declared ready for flight. The Western Range has been successful in restoring power to the Range systems. Testing occurs as the systems are brought back on line. This should be completed later tonight. The Range does not anticipate any issues in finishing the activation and at this time, the work is going smoothly. The launch weather forecast calls for only a 20 percent chance of not meeting the launch weather criteria due to low cloud conditions for departure at the runway. The launch team will begin preparing the L-1011 for departure at 2:30 Pacific Time on Thursday afternoon. Departure is planned to occur at 6:27 p.m. PDT and the drop of the Pegasus XL is targeted for 7:27 p.m. PDT on June 27.
