Hello twinners. after months lurking, just signed up, in hope of guidance.

After updating to 8 October 4D version, the network connection was lost and is not reconnected by the wizard.

I have tested the wiring to router with a laptop - no problems in getting IP address allocated.

wizard gives : LAN connection - green, local network - disconnected - red, DHCP - enabled - green, IPaddress - unconfirmed - red, nameserver - unconfirmed - red.

have tried
a) going back to earlier 4D version and earlier restore points - still no network access
b) booting into the Technomate operating system and trying to establish network connection
c) a VIX image
d) factory reset
all without success

Not possible to set up manual connection to router (it wants an auto established connection before change to fixed...)

- and don't know how to access whatever logs may be available in box (nothing I recognise as a "file manager" facility - only folder structure and media files identified).

Grateful for guidance

You have rulled out cabling as laptop works fine. You have tried different images so this rules out software issue. Safe to conclude that it is hardware problem. Ring TM and arrange for a repair.

Hello
doublebarker

it sounds like you have to restart your net work on your box, when you press LAN on your remote and then go though Adapter settings wot do you see? ie can you see a IP address?
if you cant see a IP address you def need to restart your network.
hope this helps :)
ps also could be the connection on the twin as iv had same problem and also could be alot of other things, id try and make sure you know wot it is before you send it to TM as when you contact them they will frist say send it over witch for me cost's £45 just to send it to them and back as i live in ierland but will cost alot less if you live in england but most of all it will take about 4 days at least if you live in england, so id make sure it needs to go there before sending it, also they have a he dont know wot hes doing outlook and will in most cases and just flash the box with leatest image ( weather its better or not ) and put it on 10 min test then send it back to you tilling you they have put a new main board in it, they cant even do that at TM HQ, the box's are made in tywan and its there they have to send it to get new main board, take it from me iv been there :( and in my case i had to pay to get it to them then to get it back then to send it to tywan and that bull sh1t tock over a 2 months before i got the box back working as should, cost extra £40 to send it to tywan and then back to me:( it felt like 6 months :(
best to spend an othe few days making sure before you go though that for sure....

taiwan is 1000 miles from where the receivers are made, have a look on the back of the receiver, youll see that its made in korea. TM do have motherboards for all their receivers in london, as well as every other board and spare part that may be required, they have specialist JTAGing equipment, and can carry out repairs at component level to a degree. If they get a board with an unusual hardware fault that they cannot diagnose or repair, then ONLY the motherboard will be shipped to korea, if the fault can be replicated, for further testing to see why the fault ocures, but, your receiver will generally (if under warranty) have the motherboard switched out if this is required. TM wouldnt expect you to pay for a whole receiver to be shipped to korea and back to be repaired

ive completley killed my receiver many times, and had it collected from me on a tuesday and had it back in the thursday (paid for by myself)

Hello
dd

My bad i said taiwan and should have said korea, But when the TM500hd that i bought from you that never work'd from the start even after i put a image that you told me to put on ( then try'd to blame me for putting on wrong image ), i had to send it to you and you sent it to technomate? and then told me that they could't sort it and i then pay'd for the box to go to korea and then back to me and the box still did't work.
so are you tilling me that i didt have to pay for the box to go to korea? did you even send the box to technomate? as i was talking to richard and they dont rember it being sent? wot did i pay for? that was the worest thing iv ever bought and tock 6 months to have a box back from when i got it that dont work and is just gathering dust :(
Id love to hear your reply to this dd as if your post is correct then iv been taken for a real mug and you'll find i dont like pep's try to take me for a mug!!!

this would be the box that had the TM500HD UR image that was working perfect when i sent it, that 'suddenly' stopped working, and when it was sent back to me to look at, somehow had the linuxsat-support TM800 backup image flashed onto it. i tried every way possible to recover the receiver, and then sent it back to you(as discussed), with cash in the box, as discussed, where you left it sit in a post office 200 yards from the address you told me to send it to for 2 weeks, before it was returned back to me, and then sent directly to technomate to be looked at further(as discussed with you before sending it to them), as they said that as the wrong image had somehow been flashed onto it, then theres a possibility that it may have damaged the flash and the only fix would be to send back to korea to see what had happened. once it was sent back to TM, they then confirmed that the incorrect software had somehow (but they couldnt say how) been flashed onto the receiver, damaging the bootloader etc, but they had JTAGed it back to life, and thats when you then started to deal with technomate directly to get it shipped straight back to you, in the same working order as when i originally shipped it out

if the box doesnt work again, when i double checked it before originally sending it, and then TM sorted it out, checked it, and sent it to you again, even though it worked without a single issue here for 6 months before i sold it, then i really am lost for an explanation m8
