SUNDERLAND V MAN CITY - TEAM NEWS

McCann: One-match ban

Sunderland v Man City

Barclaycard Premiership, December 9, KO 20.00, Live on Premiership Plus

Sunderland are short of midfielders with Gavin McCann serving a one-match ban for five bookings.

Ireland international Jason McAteer suffered a setback in his bid to return from a hernia injury, Argentinian Julio Arca is still out and USA skipper Claudio Reyna may not return this season.

Danish keeper Thomas Sorensen is back in training but is not fit to play, so Jurgen Macho will continue in goal.

David Bellion could return to the starting line-up after appearing as a subs***ute in teh 3-0 defeat at Chelsea.

Manchester City manager Kevin Keegan is expected to name an unchanged team after beating Bolton 2-0 at Maine Road last week.

Defenders Steve Howey and Sylvain Distin both came through their comeback game unscathed and are set to keep their places in a back three with Richard Dunne.

England Under 21 international Shaun Wright-Phillips is suspended after his red card in the defeat at Middlesbrough, so Keegan make one change on the bench.

Dane Niclas Jensen, who was dropped for the clash with Bolton, will compete with Lucien Mettomo, Joey Barton and Mathias Vuoso to be a subs***ute.
