The DLN at the Johnson Space Center will give students a good overview of what a robot is and their role in modern society. Special attention will be paid to the unique vocabulary that students need to understand if they are to become more involved in robotics. Students will also learn more about a number of current NASA robots including Chariot and R2. From there, they will spend time with robotic operators in Florida as part of the NEEMO program. Students will be able to witness in real time an underwater rover being driven on the ocean floor and even have the opportunity to "control" this robot from three states away.
