Johnny Depp will be swapping his sword for a chocolate bar in his next big screen role.
The star will play Willy Wonka in a new adaptation of Roald Dahl classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from Tim Burton.
Speaking to MTV, Depp said he was looking forward to the new project. "t's gonna be a wild ride," he said. "Tim and I have had a couple of meetings, sat down and had some talks about where he wants to go, where we need to go. And I think it's gonna be great, you know?
"Big shoes [to fill], though. Gene Wilder did such an awesome job in that film in the early '70s, so I mean, taking that character of Willy Wonka and going somewhere completely different is ... he sort of made the job infinitely more difficult for me."
