ITV2 has obtained the exclusive UK TV rights to Virgin Mobile's V Festival 2003, the channel announced today.

Daniela Neumann, ITV2’s Head of Programmes, said: "V is the concert of the year to be at - it's exciting, young and has a great line up. We're thrilled to be part of it again this year."

Two live ninety minute programmes will air on the channel, with coverage being hosted by Zoe Ball. The shows will be screened on August 16 and August 17, forming part of a summer of big signings for the channel. ITV2, which recently unveiled a new look, is showing David Beckham's debut matches for Real Madrid on August 2, 5, 8, and 10.

James Kydd, brand director at Virgin Mobile, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with ITV2 to bring the best festival of the summer to the widest possible audience. We are looking forward to a terrific high-quality production this year, and hope to build upon this for broadcasts in future years. The V Festival has become one of the biggest highlights in the music calendar so it is great that this year, when it has already sold out, that it will be brought to the millions who can’t make it to the event itself."

The shows will be repeated later on the same day during ITV1's night-time schedule, in a turn-about from the usual situation of ITV2 repeating ITV1 programming in its 're:play' strand.

Bob Angus, V Festival Organiser, added: "We are very pleased with the deal to give ITV exclusive UK transmission rights to this year’s V Festival and we look forward to working with ITV for the third year running."
