ITV has locked down its channel capacity on multiplex D for a further five years.
The broadcaster won the valuable 24-hour slot last year following an auction by National Grid Wireless (formerly Crown Castle). The initial deal was for a contract lasting twelve months but this has now been extended through 2011.
"With nearly seven million households now watching Freeview, securing DTT capacity is key for ITV," said Tom Betts, COO of ITV Consumer. "This agreement underlines our commitment to the platform."
ITV currently uses the slot for Men & Motors but will replace it with a new quiz channel, ITV Play.
